I became involved with a local lodge in the area. I have participated in some of their fundraiser events. One was a couple of months ago and it was putting a basket of cheer together to be raffled off at a creab feast. Well one of the ladies who is some officer for the ladies group asked me to participate in a Breast Cancer fund raiser. Since I am a survivor she thought I wold be a good candidate to ask for help. Well I went to meet with her and it seems this one is a little more involved.

The lodge will give the use of the building for the entire day and evening some Saturday in January. The lodge lady wants me to help her come up with what to do. OK this is new for me because I usually am the worker bee and not the planner bee at these things. Anyway we talked and decided that if the lodge was giving the full day and evening we should take advantage of this. We talked about a few things to do and we want to reach out to a variety of age groups.

First idea is to have a brunch (because I don't like getting up early on the weekends when its cold outside) this would probably appeal to the more mature crowd. We can probably get some donated items to raffle off. When this is done we can do some clean up and then have a steak and shrimp dinner or something that is appealing to all ages for dinner and and have some raffle during this. Maybe solicit some local liquor stores for a basket of cheer or two. Followig the dinner we talked about two options. One to have band and hold a dance. The other to have a Casino night. I am leaning toward the Casino night. The lodge has a full comercial style kitchen so we could also do some simple things for apetizers like wings and potato skins.

The times would be something like 10am - 2pm for the brunch/lunch, 5pm-8pm for the dinner and 9pm-1am for the dance or Casino.

If any of you have any ideas that you would like to share please post them.
